Meet the Team
Offploy prides itself on being a commercially responsible social enterprise. This means that whilst we are a community interest company and our sole purpose is to support people with convictions into employment we will do this with the lowest possible impact to the public purse. Our team ensures our activities continue to be of benefit to both our candidates and society.
Strategic Development Lead
I am married with two children; the second has recently been born in December. I am an ex-offender.
I met Jacob whilst we were both serving sentences in HMP Wealstun. We struck up a friendship from the first day we met that has continued ever since. I developed a passion for what Offploy could become from those very first days with Jacob when he began discussing this idea that went on to become Offploy. I too shared Jacob’s belief that there was so much potential untapped talent in prison, it was a case of finding ways of communicating this to industry and telling the very men we were serving with that there was hope and opportunity for them. Upon release I jumped at the chance to come and work with Offploy.
I am the Strategic Development Lead. You can break my role down into three distinct areas:
Helping to ensure that we deliver the work we have been commissioned to the highest possible standard.
Looking to create new ways for us to operate, which often involves meeting with potential commissioners, employers or delivery partners.
Overseeing the operational, “business”, side of the organisation alongside Jacob.
My time in prison will not define me as a person, but it will define the work I do. I relish the opportunity to engage with industry and tell them what people with criminal convictions can add to their workforce. Creating opportunities and breaking down barriers gives me enormous satisfaction and allows me to turn a real low point in my life into a positive.
