Meet the Team
Offploy prides itself on being a commercially responsible social enterprise. This means that whilst we are a community interest company and our sole purpose is to support people with convictions into employment we will do this with the lowest possible impact to the public purse. Our team ensures our activities continue to be of benefit to both our candidates and society.
Service Lead, Hull & East Riding
As a Business Manager for an organisation which provided employment placement services for disabled people, I unfortunately found myself facing redundancy after nearly 5 years as a welfare-to-work provider, delivering a range of contracts and employment programmes, for people with substantial barriers to work. I knew that I wanted to continue to use my skills to offer support to those who needed it the most.
After a number of interviews for various positions I was given the job specification for Offploy by my caseworker at the JCP, this was the first time I had heard of the company and I was interested in finding out more. After having a chat with Craig Harris the Senior Recruiter followed by an interview with Jacob Hill my journey with Offploy began.
My main role is to work with employers to dispel the myths about working with ex - offenders and promote the benefits of utilising an often-unused talent pool. I meet a lot of different candidates with an array of barriers to employment and by offering a 1-2-1 mentoring service we can work together and help to reduce re-offending. Most of Offploy’s Social Employment Advisors themselves have a criminal conviction and know first hand the prejudices and preconceptions our candidates may face. Together with the right employers we can make a difference to people's lives and society by creating work ready and fully trained employees and break the cycle of re-offending.
I feel very privileged to be part of Jacob’s vision and am excited to see Offploy go from strength to strength.
